This summer there will be some changes to suit the requirements that allow us to carry out a program as safe and fun as possible, what remains our commitment to guarantee the emotional, physical and social well-being of our campers, so that they have an unforgettable experience.

1. Medical control and health protocols

• Adaptation of medical and general forms of our campers and staff
• Responsible declaration, where they guarantee that the health of the child during the 14 days prior to entry to the camp has been adequate and has not suffered either cough, fever, tiredness or lack of air, and of not having been knowingly in contact with anyone symptomatic.
• Responsible statement, where 14 days after the camp, both campers and staff commit to a safer lifestyle, avoiding as much as possible contact with high-risk people.
• Authorization for daily health checks.
• Daily check to all participants and staff during the Season, to identify the presence of:
  • •  Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing 
    • Chills 
    • Repeated shaking with chills 
    • Muscle pain 
    • Headache 
    • Sore throat 
    • Loss of taste or smell 
    • Diarrhea 
    • Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit 
    • Known close contact with a person who is lab confirmed to have COVID-19  
• Development of a health and isolation protocol for use in case of suspect or detection of the virus.
• Notification of our activities to the Medical Office / Health Center and Reference Hospital.
• Assigning personal for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the established protocol.

2. Communications

• We will maintain constant communications with families registered pre, during and post Season updating on adaptations, new protocols, preventive procedures, etc.
• Families will be kept informed about the overall health status of participants during the Season.
• As always, our Directors will be available during the Season to constantly communicate with parents who require it.
• The camp will begin with an informative talk from the coordinators and counselors on how to comply with the security measures. With special emphasis on individual responsibility and hygiene and cohabitation standards. This training will be continued and will be a cross-sectional part of the entire program, dedicating time to this cause daily in activities or dynamics.
• We will adapt our rules, traditions and signage to educate and raise awareness of all participants, promoting best practices for contagion prevention.
• We will continuously promote health practices such as: frequent hand washing, coughing and sneezing label and appropriate physical estrangement.
• Health and hygiene practices will be visually strengthened with the information posters in different spaces of the facility.
• We will develop a communication protocol to use in case of suspect or detection of the virus.
• Any packages/letters received at the Camp will be retained for 24 hours before being delivered to campers or staff, and properly sanitized before handling them over.

3. Adaptation of our program

• We are experts in designing “experiences with Guaguancó and learning”, so we will adapt them to upgraded security requirements.
• We will do most of our outdoor activities, whenever possible.
• Activities and games will be conducted between subgroups. These subgroups will maintain physical estrangement during activities.
• There will be no activities that involve sharing food, picking up objects with your mouth or that similar actions.
• Participants will need to wash hands frequently as the camping activity needs it.
• Antibacterial gel will be available in areas where activities are carried out so that campers can use it frequently.
• All equipment for performing activities and games will be properly cleaned and disinfected.
• All activities will be carried out within the camp’s premises.

4. Installations, cleaning and disinfection

• The cabins will be cleaned and disinfected daily, including the bathrooms.
• Room ventilation frequency will increase.
• Common spaces will be cleaned and disinfected daily.
• Access to the facilities of people outside our camping environment will be minimized. Suppliers will dispatch supplies at the door.
• We will do thorough cleaning and disinfection of the camp before and after each season.

5. Meals

• The capacity of our dining rooms will be reduced to keep more distance among the campers.
• Kitchen staff will always wear protective equipment and gloves.
• Hand washing will be required before and after each meal by both campers and Staff.
• The cleaning and cooking staff will be join us at Camp a week prior the start of the first season and is planned to stay on premise for the whole summer.

6. Training our Staff

• As always, our #StaffLlanada is the key piece in the success of any challenge we set out to do. We have a team committed and with the best attitude to make a positive impact on our campers and families when they need it most, having their physical and emotional security as the basis for achieving it.
• We are designing a COVID-19 situation training module to be taught to all members of our #StaffLlanada in the coming weeks.
• Staff will be trained to communicate new hygiene and prevention routines to their campers effectively while maintaining a La Llanada style camping environment.
• All staff members will sign a responsible declaration, which ensures that their health during the 14 days prior to entry to the camp has been adequate and has not suffered a cough, fever, tiredness or lack of air, and that they have not been knowingly in contact with anyone symptomatic.

7. Teamwork with our #FamiliaLlanada

• We will promote responsible self-care behaviors prior to the Season, which will give us a better chance of success this summer.
• We will involve parents in the task of pre-Season awareness of our campers, to get them to know the prevention measures that we will implement during the Seasons. It’s a challenge, but we’re confident that together we will achieve our goals while maintaining constant communication.
• If feasible and accessible at the start of the seasons, we will require both the Staff and the campers to take the COVID-19 test before entering the Camp.

8. Arrivals, Departures and Transportation

• We are working on options to present plans on what the arrival at the Camp will be like, first day and last day of the season, as well as the return and transportation options for both routes. In the coming days you will have more information about this area.

• The members of each group will be the same during the week, including the staff assigned to it.
• We will do most of our outdoor activities, whenever possible.
• Activities and games will be conducted between subgroups. These subgroups will maintain physical estrangement during activities.
• The use of common spaces for activities will be in batches to minimize concentration.
• Hand washing will be required before and after camping activities.
• Antibacterial gel will be available in all areas where activities are carried out so that campers can use it frequently.
• All equipment for performing activities and games will be cleaned and disinfected after each use.

4. Installations, cleaning and disinfection

• We will adapt our spaces to maintain as much physical distance as possible.
• Common spaces will be cleaned and disinfected daily, including bathrooms.
• Common enclosed spaces will be adapted for maximum ventilation and use by the minimum number of people at once.
• Access to the facilities of persons outside the camp will be minimized. Suppliers will dispatch supplies at the door and be disinfected prior to entry to the facility.
• Before the start of each week, the cleaning and deep disinfection of the facilities will be carried out by a company specialized in commercial cleaning.

5. Meals

• We will maintain appropriate physical estrangement between diners and groups.
• Meals supplied by Camp will be served in individual containers with disposable cutlery/utensils. Campers will not be allowed to share food or drink with each other.
• Hand washing will be required before and after each meal.

6. Logistics of the first and last day of each week

• Parents or outside the camp will not be allowed access to the facilities, including the day of registration or the closing day of each week.
• All arrivals and departures will be made using the ‘carpool’ system [see next point].

7. Access to the facilities for ‘drop-off’ and ‘pick-up’

• For all arrivals: We will use the ‘carpool drop-off’ system of the campers in the camp.
• For all departures: We will use the ‘carpool pick-up’ system of the campers in the camp.
• We will communicate the logistics of access to the facilities as soon as possible.

8. Training our #StaffLlanada

• Our staff will wear masks in times of indoor activities different from meals.
• As always, our #StaffLlanada is the key piece in the success of any challenge we set out to do. We have a team committed and with the best attitude to make a positive impact on our campers and families when they need it most, having their physical and emotional security as the basis for achieving it.
• We are designing a COVID-19 situation training module to be taught to all members of our #StaffLlanada in the coming weeks.

• If a staff member dawns with any of the symptoms they will be asked to stay at home and we will have a staff pool prepared in case they are needed.

9. Teamwork with our #FamiliaLlanada

• We will promote responsible self-care behaviors prior to each week of Day Camp, which will give us a greater chance of success this summer.
• We will involve parents in the task of raising awareness of our campers, to get them to know the prevention measures that we will implement during the summer. It’s a challenge, but we’re confident that together we will achieve our goals while maintaining constant communication.
